Purchase.ie to donate percentage of your order value to Homeless Charity
As is traditional at Purchase.ie we are again raising funds for a well deserving charity in the run up to Christmas 2017.
When you place an order with Purchase.ie between now and the end of December we will donate a percentage of the total value of the order to the Capuchin Day Centre.
This year we are reverting back to giving our support to The Capuchin Day Centre which was the first charity we ever supported back in 2009. Indeed we have supported them most years up to 2016 when we donated over 400 euro to homeless charities.
Unfortunately the issue of homelessness has become a huge topic for discussion in Ireland in the run up to Christmas particularly over the last couple of years.
In 2016 we took a decision that the homelessness crisis was getting enough media publicity and instead decided to support another great cause in the Dogs Trust .
However 12 months on and if anything the homeless problem has got worse. Indeed gut wrenching current statistics estimate that 8,000 people are now homeless and up to 3,000 of these are children.
Whilst the homeless problem exists throughout Ireland we feel that Dublin with rising rents in reaction to the housing crisis is the worst effect area. Thus we felt obliged to reverting back to the Capuchin Centre ran by the wonderful Brother Kevin Crowley this year.
From Monday to Saturday inclusive the Capuchin Day Centre provide breakfast and lunch meals to the homeless and those in need from its premises on Bow Street in Dublin 7. Food parcels are also provided for all those in need on Wednesday mornings.
Showering facilities, clothing and medical facilities are also available from the centre.
