Other ways to save energy on your fridge/ freezer
If you got an automatic ice-maker on your freezer aware that this increases energy output by between 14-20%. Turn this off and go back to using ice trays to save.
Don't store cereal boxes or other items on top of your fridge as it might block heat from escaping and force your fridge to work harder and thus increase power output.
In order to maximise the efficiency of the compressor of your fridge vacuum the coils several times a year.
It is recommended to avoid placing your fridge beside heat sources such as the cooker and dishwasher. It is also recommended not to place it beside a window.
If you keep your fridge organised you won't have to leave it open for as long when you are sourcing food from it. The less time it is open the less work it takes to adjust back to the correct temperature.
